About The Icelandic Travel Market

The Icelandic Travel Market is an Icelandic company owned by Íslenskir Fjallaleiðsögumenn (Icelandic Mountain Guides) with it's head office in downtown Reykjavík and has been awarded the Icelandic Tourist Board's Environmental Prize for the year 2009 and is fully licensed by the Icelandic government and a member of The Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF).

Our team has years of experience in recommending and organizing short and long tours throughout the country, and what’s more … we have tried them all!  Let our staff help in making the most of your time here by creating a detailed, but not too tight schedule and handling your reservations-making your stay in Iceland memorable, relaxed and safe.

Besides our personal service, you also get all the necessary travel information and recommendation for your travels in the many brochures, maps and multimedia in our convenient downtown office.  With years in the business, we have established a good reputation and cooperation with many of the leading tour operators in Iceland. Among those are Air Iceland, Iceland Rovers, Reykjavík Excursions, Seatours, Icelandic Mountain Guides, The Whale Watching Centre and Mountaineers of Iceland.  If you are looking for car rental and accommodation you should visit our downtown office for in-depth information and assistance.

Consult us at the Icelandic Travel Market before deciding on a tour in Iceland.

Safe Travel in Iceland
Your safety is our biggest concern. That’s why we select our partners and tour operators extra carefully. Whether traveling alone or participating in an organized group with local guides, accidents can happen. If you decide to travel on your own you should be aware of some very important safety issues addressed by the Icelandic Search and Rescue unit (ICE-SAR) and accessable here in pdf-files in five languages (English, Spanish, Deutch, French, Norwegian, Italian).

Internet Cafe
At the Icelandic Travel Market Information Center you’ll find an Internet Cafe where you can browse the web or read your e-mail for a modest fee.

Activities, Tours and Excursions

The Icelandic Travel Market offers tours, activities and excursions.

Tours include any kind of guided event, and this includes day tours and longer tours, activities and excursions.

Activities are usually smaller groups exploring one particular outdoor activity, sometimes on foot, boat or 4x4, and these include both day tours and multi-day tours.

Excursions are somewhere between a sightseeing trip and an activity, where you are taken in luxury to one or several Icelandic travel destinations where, depending on the excursion, you can be as active as you wish or just enjoy the amazing sights. Excursions typically include travel to and from a destination (or several) in a modern, luxurious bus.

Getting there - often, Icelandic travelers do not rent a car. Most activities and excursions can pick you up at your hotel or guest house at no additional charge. Many tours include meals and admission to attractions, providing more convenience and allowing you to focus on what you want to see and do.
