A day tour on the amazing Reykjanes peninsula including a visit to the Icelandic Saltfish Museum, the Viking Ship Íslendingur at Viking World and the tour ends with or without bath in the famous Blue Lagoon Hot Springs, after which buses are scheduled to take you back to Reykjavík leaving about every hour, last one is at 21:00

The Salty Blue Lagoon tour is a sea-themed tour of Iceland's Reykjanes peninsula. In addition to a variety of sea-based attractions and sights, the Salty Blue Lagoon tour also includes Iceland's unique geology and spectacular nature. Of course, it also includes a visit to the Blue Lagoon (for as short or as long as you like) as a relaxing way to end the tour!

The sea-based attractions are fun and interesting and communicate the rich history of the ocean-going Viking people as well as the activity and action of the modern harbor traffic. Our sea attractions include a visit to the working harbor at Grindavik and the nearby Saltfish museum, where we learn all about Iceland fishing and saltfish and gain an intriguing insight into the history and lives of the local fishing community in Grindavik.

We'll also visit a Shark shack where you'll have an opportunity to try an Icelandic legend, Hákarl, commonly referred to as rotted shark… (It's an acquired taste that many do not acquire!) Though not strictly oceanic but often associated with Hákarl, you can also try Brennivin, Icelandic schnapps liquor made from potato and known to some as 'black death' for its high alcohol content.

Returning to the oceanic theme of the tour, you'll also see the lighthouse at Reykjanestoe and the Islendingur (Icelander), the only viking ship in Iceland, at Viking World in Keflavik. The Islendingur was made from 1994 to 1996 and sailed from iceland to Greenland and America in 2000 to celebrate the 1000 year anniversary of Liefer Eriksson discovering Ameria. Before returning home to Iceland, the Islendingur was boarded by nearly a half million visitors at over 20 harbor stops.

While this tour is distinctly sea-themed, the unique geology of the tour also includes a visit to the bridge between 2 continents, where you can literally step from the Eurasian tectonic plate to the North American and get a sense of the active earth movement that created Iceland. Following this, we'll see the natural beauty of the birding cliffs at Reykjanestoe and Lake Kleifarvatn. Lake Kleiforvatn, the largest lake on the Reykjanes peninsula, was made more famous for a fissure discovered in the ground in 2001 that caused a partial rapid draining of the lake, reportedly dramatic enough to be seen and heard. This has since stopped and the lake has returned to its former size.

At our last stop, the Blue lagoon, you can stay and enjoy the warm, healing waters of the famous Lagoon, or if you prefer, return to Reykjavik anytime on any of the regularly scheduled buses.

Note:  The admission ticket to the Blue lagoon is sold separately as we arrive there. Most visitors are enthusiastic about enjoying the bath at the Blue lagoon but some people just want to look around and enjoy the view. There are several scheduled buses that leave at about every hour that you can choose from and they will take you back to your hotel.?

Admission tickets costs 4.800 ISK.
