The Golden Circle tour begins with a pick up from your hotel, keeping your planning simple.  Beginning in Reykjavik, we drive over the mountain pass Hellisheidi to Hveragerdi, or the Greenhouse Village, in the Southern farmlands of Iceland

On the way to the Strokkur geyser, we will have a brief visit in Skalholt, the site of the first bishopric in Iceland. At the Strokkur geysir, we will explore the geothermal field (which includes many smaller geysirs and geothermal wells.  The most active hot spring, Strokkur, erupts with streams of hot water up to 20 meters!  This is where we have our lunch, at the Hotel Geysir Restaurant, (not included in price).

Later, we will drive to the highlands and see the powerful and majestic waterfall Gullfoss, the “Golden Falls” in the glacial river Hvita.  There are actually two sets of falls near each other, an upper and lower area with the lower area constantly sending a wall of mist high into the air.  The trail along the falls provides a stunning display of the power of nature - great for simply experienceing or for one of a kind photo opportunities.

On our return, we drive along lake Thingvallavatn and then continue through the rift valley between the continental plates to Thingvellir National Park, the site of Althing, the first Icelandic parliament, in 930. The park is on the UNESCO World heritage list.

We will have a break and a photo opportunity at the viewing area above the Almannagja and the historic “Rock of law” before wour return along the great lake with its unique arctic and volcanic landscape.

In the late afternoon we bring you back to your hotel in Reykjavik after having spend a great day seeing the Golden Circle in Iceland!
