The Wonders of Snæfellsnes
The Snæfellsnes peninsula in the west of Iceland is almostlike a miniature version of the whole country. In addition to its emblematicSnæfellsjökull glacier, you will find white and black sand beaches, birdcliffs, spectacular mountains and volcanic craters, incredibly rich trout lakesand salmon rivers, lush valleys, and unique harbours in charming fishingvillages. The stunning landscapes of the peninsula have captured theimagination of people all over the world ever since Jules Verne wrote thefamous science fiction novel “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” in which theamazing Snæfellsjökull glacier is where the journey begins. Snæfellsnescontinues to inspire great works of art to this day, most recently when BenStiller filmed parts of his critically acclaimed blockbuster “The Secret Lifeof Walter Mitty” there, notably in the charming village of Stykkishólmur,through which the tour will take you.
