We say: Everyone wants to go to Blue Lagoon. It’s the most famous attraction in Iceland. People are always asking us, is it worth it? Is it a tourist trap? Do locals go there?
Our answer is, it’s super popular because it’s awesome. It’s that simple. Yes, it’s kind of expensive, becuase it’s special. It’s not the kind of thing that people who live here do every day like the swimming pools, but yes, we go there. It’s more something we would do for a treat, like birthday. Or vacation!
A few years ago, when Blue Lagoon became really popular, there started to be long lines at the door, and often people were waiting even for a long time and couldn’t get in, which of course they hated. So Blue Lagoon introduced a booking system, and now you choose your time and you get there on time, and nobody has to wait. Of course that does mean that if you turn up without a booking you might not be able to get in, so you should definitely reserve. Reservations are only via Blue Lagoon’s own website, but here we have included the Blue Lagoon Bus service. It goes every hour from the BSI bus station. Very convenient. If you forget to reserve, you can drop by our office, we have a few spots every day at 11:00 reserved for our last minute guests.
Ideal for you if: you need a return transfer between either your hotel/Reykjavik Downtown/Keflavik Airport and Blue Lagoon
