We say: Elding is a great company which works hard for passengers’ satisfaction, environmental standards and whales’ safety; they were a founding member of Ice Whale, Iceland’s whale protection association. Their classic whale watching tour sails multiple times per day on a large boat with plenty of space for you to move around, and sit inside or outside as you wish. There is a small cafeteria board and they have special outer clothing for you to keep warm! The tour takes around 3-3.5 hours.

Whales are wild animals so you never know if you’ll see them but the chances are good. If you don’t see any, you can try again in Reykjavík or Akureyri without paying which seems very reasonable to us, and certainly better than keeping them in aquariums!  We also like this tour because of Elding’s whale exhibition, a nice display on a docked boat in the harbour which you can visit before or after the trip

Ideal for you if: you want to search for the planet’s largest animals on a comfortable boat in beautiful surroundings and visit the whale exhibiton
